Yes, we must salute and respect their sacrifices. But you know what, there is one more thing which we should do and that is to get well versed with the facts of Veterans day. Some people have no idea about this day and if you are one of them, being an American, you will feel embarrassed!

From how to spell to for whom exactly it is celebrated, we will be discussing every fact in our blog.

1.Veterans Day is written without an apostrophe.

Well, don't be sad if you were writing its spelling with an apostrophe because there are a lot of people who were following the same tradition. Veterans Day should be written as "Veterans Day", and not as "Veteran's Day" or "Veterans' Day". When you add an apostrophe to a certain spelling it becomes singular, similarly when you add an apostrophe to Veterans it indicates that this day is dedicated to the sacrifice of a single person whereas this day belongs to multiple veterans.

2.Memorial day and Veterans Day is not on the same page.

There is a huge difference between Memorial and Veterans days. Commemoration Day or Memorial Day  is a day or time when the individuals who relinquished their lives for their nation are remembered while Veterans Day is praised to respect every one of the individuals who have served their nation in war or harmony—in any condition — despite the fact that it's to a great extent expected to thank living veterans for their penances

3.Originally called Armistice Day, remembering the end of World War I.

At the point when the Treaty of Versailles was marked on June 28, 1919, that was when World War I formally finished. Nonetheless, the quarreling finished over seven months before that when the Allies and Germany put into impact a cease-fire on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

Therefore, Nov. 11, 1918, was to a great extent considered the finish of "the war to end all wars" and named Armistice Day. In 1926, Congress authoritatively remembered it as the finish of the war, and in 1938, it turned into an official occasion, essentially a day put aside to respect Veterans of World War I.

Be that as it may, at that point World War II and the Korean War occurred, so on June 1, 1954, at the encouragement of Veterans administration associations, Congress altered the remembrance once more by changing "Peace negotiation" to "Veterans" so the day would respect American veterans, everything being equal.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed HR7786, June 1, 1954. This service changed Armistice Day to Veterans Day.

For some time, Veterans Day's date was changed, as well, and it confused everyone. Congress marked the Uniform Holiday Bill in 1968 to guarantee that a couple of government occasions — Veterans Day included — would be commended on a Monday. Authorities trusted it would spur travel and other family exercises over a long end of the week, which would prompt the economy.

3.Oddly enough, the bill set Veterans Day celebrations for the fourth Monday of every October.

The main Veterans Day under this new bill was held on Oct. 25, 1971,

Inside a couple of years, it turned out to be pretty obvious that most U.S. residents needed to observe Veterans Day on Nov. 11, since it involved memorable and enthusiastic hugeness. So on Sept. 20, 1975, President Gerald Ford marked another law (Public Law 94-97), which restored the yearly recognition to its unique date beginning in 1978.

Other countries celebrate it, too, in their ways.

4.Different countries celebrate this day with different names as World War I was a multinational effort.

Talking about Canada and Australia both call Nov. 11 "Remembrance Day."Aside from an enormous number of its occupants, Canada's kinfolk wear red poppy blooms to regard their war dead. In Australia, the day is more similar to our Memorial Day. Great Britain calls

it "Remembrance Day," too, yet, watches it on the Sunday nearest to Nov. 11 and praises this with marches, administrations, and two minutes of quiet in London to respect the individuals who lost their lives in war.

Now, the question is what you need to do on this day? Starting with some good work,
