This year, we’ve refreshed our list of the ways to celebrate a meaningful Thanksgiving and here are the follows.

Get your family together and donate food

A family that eats together and stays together is a happy & blessed family. What you can do this year rather than eating together at the table, why not come together and feed the hungry with the home cooked food? Wouldn’t that be a satisfying experience of sharing the joy of giving and being thankful? And, most importantly, it will raise the bar of your happiness.

Love without conditions

Spend a day with your grandparents and feel the love that they have to give you. If that’s not what you can do, then visiting an old-age home would be a suitable idea if you really want to spread love and share the same with someone. Say thank you to your near & dear ones to make sure that love comes without conditions as well.

Play quiz with your family and give gifts

Be the host of a family gathering and play a quiz with them. Be the quiz-master and prepare questions for all of them. This would be a great way to give away the gifts and surprises for everyone. You can pick a gift for everyone depending on their age and relationship. From sweatshirts, Ps4, to sexy underwear for men, you can pick anything and everything for the people.

Say grace

What is a Thanksgiving celebration without saying grace? Your lavish serving on the table should be fed on after saying grace together. You would have seen Fast & the Furious series where the family always comes together to say grace before their meal, you too have to do it that way.

Try not be judgmental for a day

Have you tried “not ” doing something for a day?? If you haven’t tried doing the same, try not to be judgmental for a day. Don’t think about the good & the bad, what’s he wearing, why is wearing that and so on. Try this and you’ll feel really happy inside and there’s no better feeling than that?

Take a walk in nature’s lap

Why not witness the nature’s beauty this time? With all the beautiful colors of harvest, you can go collecting different colored leaves or twigs or anything that is worthy to be picked on the Thanksgiving Day.

The changing face of Halloween in the past years

The changing face of Halloween in the past years

There is no American holiday that has changed as much as Halloween. Whether it is the people who participate in the activities, the costumes, the food itinerary, the intention of the holiday to everything else. Everything has been altered ever since the people started to celebrate “Samhain” or what is also called as the “All Hallows Eve”.

Crisp air, fall leaves, and pumpkins everywhere? Halloween is right around the corner and you have all the reasons to be excited about it. You might see kids getting way happier with the holiday getting closer, it was not always like this. Things were way too different in comparison to how they are now, this blog will take you on a walk through history, namely 4 stages – the beginning, the 1800s, the 1900s and finally today.

Just before you get into the festive mood, let us catch a glimpse of the face of Halloween has changed in the past years.

#The Beginning

Started with Samhain/All Hallows Eve: If you look back in the history, it all started about 2000 years ago, when the Celtic festival was celebrated on the 1st of November. The festival emerged with a belief that the dead returned as souls and in order to keep them from harming or coming close to the mortals, food items were kept outside the front doors.

Men and women wore animal skins and animal heads or scary costumes to fool the ghosts and trick them away. This was done out of a feeling of being scared of the dead.

As a custom, back then, people would also gather around the fire praying for the dead relative’s souls and also about the fortune of the loved ones (the living).

#1800s

European immigrants came to America and brought with them their own rituals and customs. It was then when the excitement of the festival went to the next level.

The Scottish people went ahead telling ghost stories, introducing fireworks, playing spooky games and making mischief. Most pranks and mischief were the work of naughty children rather than spirits as once believed. This is how the change started to be witnessed among people.

Games like bobbing the apples, dooking, Puicini (an Irish fortune-telling game) and so many others became a part of the festival.

#1900s

By now, the celebrations of the festival (now called as the holiday) spread all over America and a wide population participated in the activities happening around.

It was in the 19th century when a tradition introduced by the British immigrants called “Trick-or-Treating” started to be practiced. The practice was all about people going to others houses and asking for Trick or Treat. It was in the beginning when people did sometimes opt for the trick but eventually, it became more of a custom where treats were handed to the ones asking for them.

Colors in the costumes were finally introduced because the whole idea of the day was shifting from the religious context to the celebration part. The costumes are one of the many essential aspects of the festival. You would have seen people roleplaying witches, Dracula, ghosts, and so much more. But till this period costumes were worn for the spooky purposes.

#Today

Now, you’d find the entire country celebrating Halloween with all the enthusiasm and zest participating in the various activities, parties and other gatherings held.

The costumes have changed from being only scary to funny, naughty and sassy as well. You would find men in men’s costumes like Sailors, Santa, wicked doctor and more whereas; women can be nurses, witches, vampires and more. The twist is that the articles have gone too revealing these days.

You would find Holiday Sales going on everywhere (including Skiviez) from where you can pick your favourites at affordable prices

So, you finally know the Halloween THEN and NOW. Do leave your comments below about the blog as well as suggestions (if any).

With all teaching falling apart, Columbus was not the first person to land on the soil of America. In fact, Christopher Columbus never made it to the country itself. Columbus painted the wrong picture of the native people

If you take a look at the excerpts of how Columbus defined the native people or the Native Arawaks in January 1493, you’d hate them for being so hostile and evil. However, in reality, it was the crew of Columbus which treated them as slaves. They made sure that the people were used as dog food to their crew members and were made to do all the hard work for them. They were brutally murdered by them and thrown for their own good.

Columbus day is celebrated only in America – false

You might be thinking that Columbus Day is a federal holiday celebrated only in America on the second Monday of every October. However, Columbus is celebrated by many other countries around the world. The Latin nations observe the same as Dia de la Raza, commemorating the meeting of European and Native American culture. Spain is where you’ll find the “National Day” being celebrated whereas; Columbia gets its name from the same holiday.

Columbus was arrested on his expedition – and returned to Spain

With all the news being spread how Columbus and his crew behaved and treated the people of Hispaniola, with the mismanagement he spread, Columbus was arrested by the-then Governor in 1500. Columbus was banished from the place and sent back to Spain in chains. What a shame he was.

Men’s Fashion tips for clubwear this Christmas

While it is considered that men take no time in getting ready for partying purposes, the irony is that they still find it difficult to choose the right pieces. With the Christmas season in full swing, looking ordinary is not the option because it is the time when you must look absolutely stunning in order to make a lasting impression.

This blog would lay out the different tips that won’t your fashion quotient but will surely brush it up and prevent you from making mistakes this year and the coming ones.

1.Don’t overdress:

The very first thing that you must understand to keep it minimal and less on your body. Not literally less! The context talks about dressing well but not overdoing it. When undressed is easily noticed, overdressed people are noticed better and is surely not good for your personality. Keep it basic and subtle with whatever you like to wear when partying. Don’t go with formals or completely casuals, make sure you sport a style that is comfortable for you to dance around and acceptable to people around you.

2.Avoid sunglasses in the club:

Sunglasses surely a must have for the rich fashion statement but avoid wearing them inside the club. You might end up tripping on the other person because it is already too dark and you’d be dancing your lungs out. If you are planning to hit a place which will be visibly illuminated, you can sport a color that is different from the conventional black or brown. It depends on the venue you choose as well as the activities you’re going to indulge in.

3.Wear the right shoes:

The other day I went to a club where the rules and regulations were mentioned outside the club. One of the rules mentioned that formal shoes are not allowed inside the premises. Why would a club do something like that? Well, the popular clubs want their visitors to dress according to the standard of the club. No sports shoes or formal shoes are allowed inside, what is, is the styles like loafers, desert boots and more.

4.Consider the right underwear:

Wearing the right men’s underwear is definitely not mentioned anywhere in the rules. This is a personal suggestion from my side because you never know you might meet someone special and have the chances to take it to the next level. Make sure you are prepared to show her the sexy aspect of you with something like men’s thong or g-string underwear.

5.Be confident:

This might be the last point here, but surely is needed throughout the time when you seek to make a lasting impression. Be confident in whatever you wear and surely be joyous because it is Christmas. Greet others and dance to the best of your ability this year.

With these tips, you’ll rock your Christmas party this year. What else can you do? Take a look at the other things you can indulge in this Christmas here.

What To Do On Veterans Day?

Veterans Day

In my last blog on Veterans Day, I had talked about the facts that every individual must know about the day and its history. This blog is going to be special because it would list out the ways that you can celebrate the patriotic day without losing its actual charm and true meaning.

Without wasting a lot of time, let me get forward to the ways you can actually celebrate Veterans Day in true spirit.

  • Attend the celebrations:

Celebrations are not restricted to family and friends, in fact on an occasion like Veterans Day, you must celebrate with the place you live in. Attend the parades and other social gatherings which revolve around the actual theme. Participate (if you get an opportunity) in the happenings taking place around you.

  • Visit the Veterans:

This is another way of showing respect to them by visiting them and spending quality time with them. Do you remember when our parents took us to old age homes and made us talk to the people there? You wouldn’t have understood the true meaning of spending time with someone whom you didn’t know back then, but they loved your presence. Likewise, when you visit these people and talk about their war stories, they’ll be delighted to have you.

  • Gift them:

If you go through the internet, you’ll find the true state of the Veterans today. Their families have abandoned them and some don’t even have food to eat or clothes to wear. You can be the ray of hope for them. Gift them something that your budget allows. Whether something that they need every day to the basic needs like men’s underwear or other clothing articles. Give them food to eat and spend some quality time with them.

  • Donate:

Gifting is not the only idea here! You can even donate your old wearable clothes, things of use and anything that could be of some worth to the organization who take care of the Veterans. You can even donate your support, services and appreciation to the organizations if you cannot support them financially.

  • Go out on a Veterans trip:

You can catch up your family and friends who are from the army background and plan a day-trip to a nearby place where you can relax, talk and share the war stories with your Veteran friends.

Now you can start planning your celebration because 11th November is not that far.

Facts About The Veterans Day

Facts About The Veterans DayFacts About The Veterans Day | Skiviez

We have been celebrating Veterans Day without any fail for the so many years now paying homage to all the living and nonliving Americans who have served the nation with their hard work. For all the security and safety the citizens of the nation feel are a great contribution of these heroes.

We have compiled some facts about the day celebrated in order to pay a tribute to men as well as women both dead and alive serving the armed forces. Let us look at them below and discover the true meaning of the day in our lives.

a)The very first fact that few people know is that the name Veterans Day was not the same always. It was called ARMISTICE Day to pay a tribute to the treaty signed between nations in order to end the World War I. Not only this, the truce was made on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. Since then, it has always been celebrated on the designated date*.

b)The first Armistice Day was celebrated in the U.S. on 11th November 1919, just a year later to the treaty being signed as well as mark it as the end of the World War.

c)The name was changed from Armistice Day to Veterans Day in the year 1954 where all the veterans were commemorated including the ones that served in the World War I as well as those who are currently serving in the armed forces.

d)When Congress was ruling in the year 1968, it changed the date of celebration from 11th November to the 4th Monday of October. However, there was a change of events when President Gerald Ford in 1975 changed it back to the original date to keep the significance intact.

e)To keep up with traditions, the day also marks a ceremony upheld every year at 11am in the Arlington National Cemetery which is called the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tombs of the Unknown.

f)Well, it is not only the U.S. celebrating the day in remembrance of the veterans, countries like France, Canada, Britain and Australia also honor the veterans of the World War I and II on or somewhere near November 11th.

We hope you now know a lot more than just the celebrations taking place on a patriotic day for men and women who made this day possible for both you as well as me. Take pride in who you are and because of whom you have made it here. Happy Veterans Day you all!!
